Parks

Each year, Golden Mile residents enjoy our parks and recreational amenities.

The Golden Mile City parks offer a wide variety of recreational activities such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, playgrounds, walking trails, picnic & grilling areas. Pavilions are available for rental to host your next family reunion or outdoor event.

Wonderful recreational experiences in our local parks are to be enjoyed in every season

Rock Creek Trails -Walking and Biking

The city of Frederick has completed Rock Creek Trail!

One can now walk, run, cycle, skate, skip or jump from The Frederick Fairgrounds, along Carroll Creek Linear Park, through Frederick’s beautiful Baker Park all the way to 40 West or what us locals call “The Golden Mile’ along Rock Creek Park.”

Along the way you will enjoy various parks and beautiful green spaces. End to end the path is about 5 miles in length. You pass the Schifferstadt Architectural Museum then go under route 15 on the widened sidewalk you will see the new tunnel that passes under the route 15 entrance ramp at Rosemont Ave. This new part of the path was worth waiting for.

The green spaces, the new foot bridge, the trees with interpretive signage, and the careful way it all goes together, shows that a huge amount of thought and preparation went into this, the longest Frederick City trail.

  • Community Garden

Looking to enjoy fresh garden vegetables and herbs, but don’t have the space at your residence. Check out the Community Garden spaces provided by the City of Frederick.

The City maintains two areas that residents can apply to use as a Community Garden space. For the Golden Mile, the community garden plots are the Hargett/West Side Regional Park which has 55 plots available. Each plot requires an application and costs $60.

Community Garden Plot information, application, and rules can be found at  https://www.cityoffrederick.com/1059/Garden-Plots.
